Wilderness to Launch Magashi Peninsula Camp in Rwanda in September 2025

In September 2025, Wilderness Rwanda will open Wilderness Magashi Peninsula, a new luxury safari lodge located in a private concession within Akagera National Park. Overlooking Lake Rwanyakazinga and set against the Mutumba Mountains, the camp is positioned in Central Africa’s largest protected wetland and Rwanda’s only savannah wildlife sanctuary. The region offers rich game-viewing experiences across ten varied habitat types, including swamps, woodlands, open plains, and rolling hills. Designed by hospitality firm Luxury Frontiers, the exclusive eight-bed camp includes a four-bed villa and two twin suites spaced over 650 feet apart for privacy. The villa also features a flexible en-suite room, which can serve as a gym, office, or children's space.

Each room at Magashi includes a private plunge pool and opportunities for wildlife observation. The lodge reflects locally inspired interiors and maintains a minimal environmental footprint, running entirely on solar power. Wilderness collaborates with the Akagera Management Company to support conservation efforts such as predator monitoring and invasive species control. The lodge’s construction and daily operations will involve local community members, emphasizing skills development and employment. Guests will enjoy personalized guiding, private dining, wellness treatments, and intimate boma nights while directly supporting conservation in one of Africa’s most unspoiled natural landscapes.
