Thailand Announces Launch of Luxury Train Journey for Travelers in 2025

DTH Travel will debut The Blue Jasmine this November, a restored 1960s Japanese sleeper train that offers a nine-day journey from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. The inaugural trip departs on November 16, 2025, with fares starting at $7510 per person. Designed for just 37 passengers across ten carriages, the train features three cabin categories, classic, premium, and premium suites, each with double beds, wide windows, and either shared or private bathrooms. Butler service is available for suite guests. The itinerary blends two nights aboard the train with stays at boutique hotels along the route, offering a mix of heritage, culture, and regional discovery.

The journey traverses five provinces with curated experiences in each stop. In Ayutthaya, guests explore UNESCO-listed temples by tuk-tuk after a lotus pond lunch, while Uthai Thani offers morning alms for monks and visits to the Crystal and Golden Temples. Chiang Mai highlights include ethical elephant encounters and mountaintop farm-to-table dining, while Sukhothai pairs UNESCO ruins with pottery and goldsmithing workshops. All-inclusive fares cover meals, guided tours, and transfers, with additional departures scheduled in 2026. Positioned alongside the Eastern & Oriental Express, The Blue Jasmine underscores Thailand’s bid to elevate regional rail travel into a boutique luxury experience.
