Rosewood Hotels & Resorts officially opened Rosewood Miyakojima, its first luxury retreat in Japan, on March 5, 2025. Located on a secluded peninsula of Miyakojima, a tropical island south of mainland Japan, the resort blends Rosewood’s ultra-luxury hospitality with the island’s serene natural beauty. Designed by Studio Piet Boon, the architecture emphasizes sustainability, using natural materials such as Ryukyu limestone to create harmony with the landscape. The resort offers 55 villas and exclusive houses, each with panoramic views of the turquoise waters. These accommodations are divided into five distinct zones, including cliffside retreats, beachfront villas, and private residences with butler service.
Guests can enjoy a diverse culinary experience with locally inspired and international cuisine at the resort’s restaurants, including NAGI, MAAS, and YUKUU, with CHOMA set to open later in 2025. The Asaya Spa offers wellness treatments rooted in Okinawan traditions, while activities such as snorkeling, karate lessons, and traditional craft workshops provide cultural immersion. Rosewood Miyakojima welcomes families with its Rose Buds program for young children and the Rosewood Explorers Club for older kids. This new retreat strengthens Rosewood’s presence in Asia while offering travelers an exclusive getaway in a tranquil island setting.
