Marriott Brings City Express Brand to Brazil with 30-Hotel Expansion Plan

Marriott International has announced the debut of its City Express by Marriott brand in Brazil through a multi-unit development agreement with Fábrica de Hotéis LTDA. The partnership includes the signing of seven hotels across Northeast Brazil and a long-term plan to develop 30 properties over the next 15 years. The first seven hotels will add over 750 guest rooms across high-growth destinations, including Ipojuca, Porto de Galinhas, Natal, and Fortaleza, with openings expected between 2028 and 2029. Federico Greppi, Chief Operations Officer for Marriott International in the Caribbean and Latin America, stated, “We’re excited to continue our collaboration with Fábrica de Hotéis to bring the City Express by Marriott brand to Brazil. This agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to combining Marriott’s scale with local expertise—delivering efficient, high-quality accommodations and providing access to our powerful platforms and the Marriott Bonvoy ecosystem.”

These new developments follow City Express by Marriott’s recent expansion into El Salvador, Argentina, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru, and the U.S., reflecting its growing presence in the midscale hotel segment. Bojan Kumer, Regional VP of Development, Marriott International, CALA said, “Brazil is a key growth market for us, and we continue to see opportunities to further diversify our portfolio in the country. We’re especially excited about expanding in the affordable midscale segment with City Express by Marriott,” Tarcysio Malheiros, Director of Fábrica de Hotéis, added, “City Express by Marriott in the Northeast is not just a new hotel—it’s the connection between a global brand and the region’s economic potential.”
