Grand Wailea, A Waldorf Astoria Resort, has reopened after a $55 million renovation, unveiling enhanced amenities that blend luxury, natural beauty, and cultural authenticity. Spanning 40 acres on Maui’s coastline, the resort now features the largest spa in Hawaii, an aquarium bar, seven waterslides, and the newly opened Nobu restaurant. The Kilolani Spa, covering 50,000 square feet, incorporates Hawaiian cultural elements and offers treatments aligned with the lunar cycle. “The programming at the spa constantly evolves, ensuring that each visit is unique and special,” said David Erlich, Senior Director of Spa and Wellness. Guests can choose from exclusive Napua club-level rooms with private concierge service or family-friendly accommodations near the activity pool, which includes a 262-foot lava tube slide.
The resort’s renovation also emphasizes sustainability, incorporating energy-efficient lighting, water-saving systems, and eco-friendly construction materials. Dining options now include Nobu’s Japanese-Peruvian cuisine, the signature Humuhumunukunukuāpuaʻa seafood and steakhouse with its 400-fish aquarium bar, Italian-inspired Olivine, and casual beachside venues. With nearly full occupancy rates since reopening, Grand Wailea is contributing significantly to Maui’s tourism recovery following the pandemic and 2023 wildfires. By offering luxury experiences alongside environmental responsibility, the resort is strengthening its role as a premier Hawaiian destination and setting a strong example for sustainable high-end tourism in the region.
