Capella Taipei Unveils Tranquil Luxury in the Heart of the City

Capella Hotels and Resorts has officially opened Capella Taipei, its first property in Taiwan, located along the tree-lined Dunhua North Road. Created by renowned architect André Fu, the hotel presents an elegant interpretation of a "modern mansion," seamlessly combining tranquil luxury with local cultural elements. The property’s entrance features a cobblestone driveway leading to a peaceful courtyard and continues through a sequence of private salons. Fu’s design reflects Taipei’s contrasting energies—urban vibrancy and tranquil elegance—through a series of rhythmically arranged spaces, including Plume, a welcoming lounge adorned with a mural of the Taiwan blue magpie by French artist Elsa Rameau. Key architectural elements include a spiral staircase crafted from 800 hardwood blocks and the vertical sculpture Quiet Dynamics by Joel Escalona.

The hotel houses several dining venues, each envisioned as an individual destination. Highlights include Ember 28, with its twin chandeliers and burgundy-toned interiors, and Patisserie Plume, a European-inspired patisserie overlooking the boulevard. The guest rooms feature hand-painted silk panels created in collaboration with De Gournay and André Fu Living. Additional amenities include Chinese and Japanese restaurants, spa and wellness areas designed to evoke a sense of deep calm, and a pool terrace framed by a 38-metre white bougainvillea hedge. Fu stated, “Capella Taipei stands as a testament to the power of curated design in creating spaces that resonate with emotional depth. To me, it is a crafted celebration of this poetic city.”
