Spier Hotel and Wine Farm in Stellenbosch, South Africa, has introduced two exclusive-use villas, the Garden Villa and Riverside Villa, set between Cape gardens and the Eerste River. Each residence features a private heated pool, outdoor entertainment area, and interiors designed by Cape Town designer Jacques Erasmus. “These are homes designed for travellers who value the luxury of complete privacy when exploring the world,” said Erasmus. The villas include a dedicated service team with a private chef, making them ideal for extended stays, remote work, or family gatherings. Architect Paul Luck designed flowing spaces that open into gardens, part of a wider fynbos rewilding project by Danie Steenkamp.
Both villas reflect South Africa’s relaxed lifestyle, with open-plan living areas, verandahs, and unique décor. Garden Villa features warm earthy tones, while Riverside Villa draws inspiration from the river and surrounding greenery. Interiors highlight artisanal craftsmanship, including bespoke furniture, hand-dyed linen, and embroidered textiles. Erasmus remarked, “The owners have a deep respect for handcrafted furniture and artisanal craftsmanship.” Together, the villas embody Spier’s vision of harmonizing contemporary luxury with heritage, artistry, and the restorative beauty of Stellenbosch’s landscape.
