Octant Douro, set on the hillside terraces of Castelo de Paiva, Portugal, has introduced The House Collection, featuring 20 new design-led one- and two-bedroom private residences. Each unit includes a garden, living area, kitchen, and optional services such as private chefs, yoga instructors, and wellness therapists. The collection comprises 16 one-bedroom and four two-bedroom split-level residences, with select options offering private plunge pools. Guests also have access to Octant Douro’s refurbished common areas, including its À TERRA restaurant and full-service spa with treatments by Moss of the Isles. Designed for couples, solo travelers, friends, and families, these retreats offer a tranquil, immersive experience in harmony with the Douro River landscape.
Inspired by the region’s cultural and natural beauty, the residences integrate traditional Portuguese materials like schist stone, corten steel, wood, and handcrafted tiles. Architect and Interior Designer Cristina Jorge de Carvalho said, “I wanted each space to embody a sense of understated luxury, where architecture and interior design work together to provide a tranquil, immersive experience. Large openings frame breathtaking views, natural textures create warmth, and a carefully curated palette mirrors the ever-changing hues of the landscape. Sustainability was a fundamental pillar of the project.” Guests can enjoy tailored experiences such as Tibetan bowl meditation, garden BBQs, in-residence wine tasting, paddleboarding, and guided hikes through Douro International Natural Park. Octant Douro combines contemporary design with authentic regional experiences, creating a refined stay rooted in local tradition.
