Marriott International has signed an agreement with Solana PA, S.R.L. to introduce the St. Regis Hotels & Resorts brand to Costa Rica. The new development will cover 20 hectares on the Gulf of Papagayo in Guanacaste, with construction beginning in July 2025 and an expected opening in early 2027. The resort will offer 120 hotel rooms and 143 residential units, combining elements of local culture with scenic ocean views. It will also include six unique dining options, such as a Japanese-Costa Rican fusion restaurant and the signature St. Regis Bar. Additional amenities will include multiple swimming pools, a spa, a beach club, and extensive indoor and outdoor event spaces designed for meetings and celebrations.
Located between Panama Bay and Culebra Bay, the St. Regis Papagayo offers 634 yards of beachfront and panoramic views of the Gulf of Papagayo, just 25 minutes from Liberia International Airport. The project is designed by the Mexican architecture firm Sordo Madaleno, with interiors by Gensler Mexico City and landscaping by Maat Handasa. This opening marks Marriott’s first St. Regis property in Costa Rica, expanding its luxury offerings in the Caribbean and Central America region. Marriott International operates nearly 9,500 properties worldwide and supports its brands through the Marriott Bonvoy travel program.
