Orient Express has officially opened its first hotel, La Minerva, in the heart of Rome. Located at Piazza della Minerva 69, just steps from the Pantheon, the hotel marks the restoration of a 17th-century palazzo. Designed by award-winning architect Hugo Toro, the property features 93 rooms and 36 suites, each uniquely designed to reflect the golden age of travel. From bespoke trunks and fine wood detailing to hand-painted ceilings inspired by Rome’s sky, every detail offers a refined blend of historical charm and modern comfort. The hotel continues the Orient Express legacy of sophisticated hospitality, following the launch of La Dolce Vita Orient Express and ahead of the upcoming opening of Orient Express Palazzo Donà Giovannelli in Venice.
La Minerva hosts three distinct dining venues. Gigi Rigolatto, opening in May 2025, brings Riviera-inspired elegance to the rooftop, offering panoramic views of Rome's iconic landmarks. Mimi Kakushi, set to open later in the year, will offer a unique fusion of 1920s Osaka with Western influences, curated by Rikas Hospitality Group. The hotel also includes five event venues, including the Olimpo Ballroom adorned with sculptures by Rinaldo Rinaldi. At the center stands the historic statue of the goddess Minerva, watching over a space where history and hospitality meet. As Orient Express continues to expand its legacy of refined travel and exceptional hospitality, La Minerva stands not only as a celebration of Rome’s rich heritage but also as a symbol of the brand’s bold future in luxury experiences.
